Recreation Aide Part-Time

We are looking for positive, compassionate Recreation Aides to schedule and coordinate our residents’ events.

This is a Part-Time position, hours are 9:00 am – 5:00 pm with weekend availability, including Sundays

The Recreation Aide will create and handle the logistics for daily, weekly, and monthly events to entertain and engage residents.

You will deliver fun, safe events. You should be detail-oriented and possess excellent interpersonal and time management skills.

To succeed as a Recreation Aide, you should strive to stage entertaining, engaging activities that will appeal to the resident’s age and physical or emotional condition.

You will need to be observant, driven, creative, and caring.

Recreation Aide Responsibilities:

• Planning and facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation.
• Aides assist the recreational activities leader or activities director, helping patients or participants use equipment and supplies.

• Implementing activities that accommodate those with special needs.
• Handling logistics to make the event possible, such as making phone calls, creating posters and notifying our residents of the daily activities we offer,
• Managing inventory to be ready for the program.
• Activities may include arts and crafts, outdoor activities, sports, music, board games, cards, hosting special events or puzzles of all sorts.
• The assistant may prepare equipment and ensure the safety of patients or participants in the activity.

• Observing participants at events gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events.
• Keeping records regarding event planning resources, participant interest, and other notable information, such as injuries or behavioral incidents and report to the appropriate supervisor.
• Reporting medical concerns or observations immediately.
• Ensuring that events are well-provisioned.
• Providing participants with instructions for the event.
• Adhering to and enforcing all safety procedures.

• Assists in developing new and stimulating activities and encourage and coordinates Resident involvement
• Perform planned activities
• Maintain knowledge of Residents’ backgrounds, hobbies, special interests, and languages spoken, and uses this knowledge to encourage Resident involvement.

Requirements:

• A high school diploma and certain certifications may be required.
• More education or experience with nursing homes, short-term rehabilitation, recreational activities, event planning, or related may be preferred.
• Ability to pass a background check
• Physical fitness, ability to walk, dance, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands.
• Adaptability and strong organization and time management skills.
• Excellent resource management, computer, record keeping, interpersonal, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Patience and compassion when dealing with others, especially those who are sick, injured, elderly, or from different backgrounds.
• Flexibility to work when needed, especially evenings, weekends, or early mornings.
• Willingness to adhere to and enforce all safety policies and procedures.

• Proven ability to lead classes/instructional learning sessions and speak in front of a group setting with ease and clarity
